On the square since 1988

The restaurant

San Antonio has stood on the Jacob van Campenplein, in Het Lage Land, since 1988. An Italian neighbourhood restaurant: pizzas from the oven, pasta, and a grill where the serious work happens.

38 years on the same square

The trade register has San Antonio at Jacob van Campenplein 65 since 1988. That is 38 years at the same address, in a building that was already there in 1961. Generations from Het Lage Land have eaten their first pizza here.

That date comes from the trade register, not from our scrapbook. Who started here, and what has changed since, we'll tell properly once we have it written down.

A kitchen, not a takeaway hatch

You can see the difference on the menu. Alongside 31 pizzas there are lamb chops, veal, beef tenderloin seven ways and grilled king prawns. Those are not dishes you put in a box. You eat them where they are made.

What people say

1,420 people have rated us, averaging 4.4 out of 5. What comes back most often: generous portions, a fair price, and staff who are decent to you.

The neighbourhood

Het Lage Land is not a nightlife district, and that suits us. The parade of shops on the square has been there since 1961; we have been part of it for a good stretch of that. Our guests live round the corner, arrive by bike, and we know a good number of them by name. It's also why we don't play games: anyone who feels short-changed here walks past the window again tomorrow.

What isn't here yet

Photographs of the restaurant and the dishes. We're still taking them. The drawings on this site are ours; a downloaded photo of someone else's pizza didn't seem like a good idea.
